Modern Quilt Club Retreat

A whole weekend away. Thursday till early Sunday (which is in fact a little longer), I have been attending the Modern Quilt Club Retreat this summer and is has been amazing.

But let me share a little more with you...

Modern Quilt Club Retreat - Sweet Cinnamon Roses

My sweet friend Lisa is the face behind Modern Quilt Club and twice a year she's hosting the MQC Retreat near Leeds.

It's amazing! Her ethos is all about creating a relaxed atmosphere. Bring all your WIPs and (try to) finish them during the retreat. Super casual no stress or tight agendas. The room is open for you 24/7 - so whenever you like to hang out and sew, you go girl!

If you need a machine (bc if you're like me and you don't really want to squeeze it into hand luggage on the train), you can borrow a neat little Janome. There's plenty fabric, notions, thread and we were super lucky that Saira from Olive + Flo Handcraft came by and set up her pop up shop (incl. all the new RSS prints).

There's food. Like a lot. It felt like an endless supply of tea, coffee, cake, scones, sandwiches, salats and let's not even talk about the three course dinner every evening.

On top of that, Lisa is also inviting guests to the retreat to teach. Saying that - the emphasis is on you finishing your WIPs. But learning a new skill or project is always nice, right...?

And this year I was lucky to be the guest - teaching Lisa retreaters my new pattern. The tiny needle book (which is coming out super soon)

Let's be honest though... I was taking more home than every single one of them. Their feedback was so valuable. Which in reverse means that your pattern will be amaze-balls. Once it's out of course.

And here the samples that were made. One cuter than the next. Don't you think?

But let's talk retreat again.

There's also a chance for you to get your sewing machine serviced and your scissors sharpened. How awesome is that, right?

Hotel stay, food, retreat bags, bingo, competitions, access to the sewing room, you'll learn new skills, hang out with quilty friends, treatment not only for your machine and scissors but also for you - as it's a wellness hotel. And I heard the massages are very good.

However. Let me share a couple more pictures with you to give you an idea.

It's been an amazing weekend away. And I will be back. Next time as a retreater...

Thanks so much again to Lisa for having me. It's been a true honour to be invited and hang out with your incredible bunch of retreat ladies. I truly loved it.

Take care + quilty hugs.

Laura
