New GPSR rules.

Update.

All products created before the new GPSR (General Product Safety Regulations) rules come into effect on December 13th, will be exempt from having to comply with the regulation. This is includes the following paid for and free digital products:

All products created after this deadline will fully comply with the new GPSR regulations. If you wish to enquire on how Sweet Cinnamon Roses sewing patterns are complying with safety guidelines, please feel free to reach out to Laura Cunningham (laura@sweetcinnamonroses.com).

Sewing Patterns are not made for use by children. Please keep out of reach. Sewing Patterns may require the use of machinery (like a sewing machine) and sharp objects (like a rotary cutter, scissors, pins and needles), where it is advisable to ensure supervision for beginners or people with additional needs at all times. All products made are for personal use only. Any products made to sell, using patterns by Sweet Cinnamon Roses, need to be safety tested by the maker and comply with GPSR regulations.

Statement.

Please read. This is mostly affecting EU/ NI and UK customers. But not exclusively. The new rules will have consequences on everyone.

All businesses selling physical and/ or digital products will have to comply with the new GPSR (General Product Safety Regulations) rules, coming into effect on December 13th. Aiming to make all goods entering the EU safer.

Businesses selling goods (including PDF sewing patterns) will be required to make huge safety compliance changes. Please note that the rules also apply to free goods (so make sure to grab your freebies before December 11th).

Digital sewing patterns are neither explicitly included nor in the list of exemptions. They are however mentioned on the Dutch government GPSR page (source: Folksy blog). Until PDFs are explicitly excluded or further guidance is issued allowing me to make a reasoned response to the new rules, I will unfortunately have to (hopefully only temporarily) turn off shipping options for my patterns to both EU and Northern Ireland customers from December 11th. Including Etsy.

Unfortunately I will also have to stop selling patterns in the UK for the time being, simply because of technical difficulties with my website provider (excluding only NI seems impossible for the time being, meaning all UK sales have to stop).

I am deeply saddened to take dramatic actions and wish I could handle this differently. But, for the time being, this is the safest way to protect my business from fines/ legal battles with the EU.

I hope for further clarity and guidance in the coming weeks. Hopefully this will get all cleared and I am back with all my patterns available to all of you.

In regards to free patterns - they are also included in the GPSR regulations. As I can't differentiate where you're coming from, I will have to pause sending out free patterns as well. So again, please make sure to download them before December 11th. And this unfortunately includes all of you. World wide.

Please note that I am not a lawyer and my understanding of the new rules is vague at best. Your interpretation may be different.
